Mail Merge Installer

The Access Mail Merge Installer is used to connect, update or
disconnect Access Mail Merge from your Access database. In addition it has a
feature to fix compilation state problems which may occur when you change the
version of the referenced accessmailmerge mde library.
Start the Access Mail Merge Installer:
- Start > All Programs > Mail Merge for Microsoft Access > Mail
Merge Installer
- or-
- double-click on C:\4tops\accessmailmerge\mailmergeinstaller??.mde
Activating Access Mail Merge with your Access database makes the following
changes to it:
- sets a reference to the Access Mail Merge library
(accessmailmerge*.mde)
- adds the 'accessmailmerge' menu or ribbon
Additionally, if selected (checkboxes), it copies
- the Mail Merge library
- Template and Process designer files
to the folder of your database for easy distribution.
Notes:
- (Access 2003/2007) Before using the Mail Merge installer you will
temporarily need to change security settings in Trust
Center:
- click Microsoft Office Button
- click Access Options
- click Trust Center Settings
- choose "Enable all macros" in Macro Settings
Controls:
Select the Access database you want
to use Access Mail Merge in.
Select the Mail Merge Library file
to set reference to.
- adds the menu accessmailmerge
- adds module modMailmergeWrapper
- Copies the library and tools files (if selected)
- sets a reference to the Access Mail Merge library
(accessmailmerge*.mde)
- Copies the new versions of library and tools files (if selected)
- Refreshes the compilation state to match the new library
- Backups the database
- Opens the database, removes the reference to accessmailmerge, closes
the database
- Runs msaccess.exe /decompiles, opens the database, closes the database
- Runs msaccess.exe /compacts the database
- Opens the database, sets a reference to accessmailmerge, compiles and saves
the database, closes the database.
Fix is a rather complex process which opens your database several times.
This is necessary to prevent all kinds of errors which have to to with MS
Access not completely recompiling it's code.
- Backups the database
- Opens the database, removes the reference to accessmailmerge, closes
the database
- Runs msaccess.exe /decompiles, opens the database, closes the database
- Runs msaccess.exe /compacts the database
- Opens the database, sets a reference to accessmailmerge, compiles and saves
the database, closes the database.
- removes reference to the Access Mail Merge library
(accessmailmerge*.mde)
- removes the menu accessmailmerge
- removes module modMailmergeWrapper

copies
to the folder of your database for an easy distribution.
