Outlook, GroupWise or CDO

By default Mail Merge for Microsoft Access uses Outlook to send mail. If GroupWise is installed instead of Outlook then that is used. An advantage of using Outlook or GroupWise is that you will find your emails listed in your Outlook or GroupWise email client.

Before Access 2007, a disadvantage (from the point of the end-user) was that for security reasons Outlook gives a warning when you want to send one or more messages. Send email without outlook security warning gives a workaround you can use with Access 2003 or earlier, or if you don't have good anti virus software installed.

Mail Merge > Tools > Process Designer

  1. Select the process to change
  2. Select Activity Email 
  3. In the property pane specify Send method

CDO

To use CDO you have to specify the required settings of the Email activity of the emailing process.
